W is for Weekly Review

Greetings:

I have begun to do weekly reviews. I have been doing weekly reviews for a while now and I have noticed that I’m getting a little bit more done than usual but I have not perfected it yet. Basically, the weekly review is when you write down everything that needs to be done for a week. Normally you will do one on a Sunday or Monday; just think about all the things you need to do for that week.

Now I have been practicing with what day I should do a weekly review on. Sunday, may be ideal, if you think that’s the beginning of the week; for some people the ideal day is Monday. For me, Monday is a very hectic day and I sometimes don’t have time to sit and do a weekly review. Sunday is not always a good day for me and I know it should be but for whatever reason it sometimes gets forgotten. So what is a good day for me? A good day is really Friday afternoon because that’s when everything slows down. Also writing on Fridays I started to write a better to do list for my weekends so my weekends aren’t a total loss, but I suggest practicing on different days to see which day is good for you.

I also notice that writing on a piece of paper where you actually have days listed on the paper is better than a plain sheet of paper. When the actual days are listed, you can figure out on which days you would like to do certain activities this can make your daily to-do list easier to write.

Keep in mind a weekly review does not replace a daily to do lists because a weekly review is more of an estimate of what needs be done during the week. A daily to-do list is what you follow for that particular day. As you know with emails, text messages, and your brain, all of a sudden, remembering something, your daily to do list can change even as you go about your day.

So give a weekly review a try and see if it improves productivity.

Keep Smiling,
Namkia
